Mr Remy Osuagwu
Executive Director, Business and Commercial Banking

Mr Remy Osuagwu is a banking professional and leader with over 22 years’ experience in the banking sector. His experience and competence span various areas which include but is not limited to Branch Management, Credit and Risk Management, Project Management, Relationship Management, Portfolio Management, Retail Banking and Commercial Banking. He is a graduate of Banking & Finance and holds an MBA (Finance), both from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He has also completed several courses in management and entrepreneurial leadership including the Strategic Management for Competitive Advantage training offered by Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Mr Osuagwu’s career has seen him serve in various managerial and leadership roles at Standard Trust Bank, United Bank for Africa and now Stanbic IBTC Bank. These roles, which have groomed diverse skills, include Team Leader Consumer Credit, Head Retail Lending, Project Lead Finacle Core Banking and Head Commercial Banking. His career has also seen him undertake an international assignment as the Head, Personal & Business Banking (PBB) Credit, Standard Bank, Angola. In this role, he helped to put requisite structures, capabilities, controls and processes to drive the implementation of sound risk management practices. He also built and led the team tasked with effectively managing the PBB risk assets portfolio across the entire life cycle covering origination and evaluation, collateral management, account management, rehabilitation and recoveries.  In his most recent role prior to being appointed Executive Director, Remy led the Business Banking team in the Bank, where he was responsible for strategy development and implementation for the overall growth of the Commercial and Enterprise Banking segments, as well building high performing teams.

He is a member of the Board Credit Committee.
