Helmut joined the Standard Bank Group in 1999 in the Structured Finance team and has held various executive roles within Investment Banking and across Africa Regions. In 2021 he became Regional Chief Executive of the Standard Bank Group with Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cote d’Ivoire and Mauritius being in his portfolio.

Helmut is a qualified Accountant and holds both Accountancy and Law degrees from the Rand Afrikaans University in South Africa

Throughout his career, Helmut has developed and demonstrated key strengths, including building new business areas; leadership, management, the ability to manage and network across the entire organisation, business segment and country engagement, and the ability to create long term shareholder value.
